What a beautiful place! The treehouse was simply wonderful. Andy (the owner) was super helpful and showed us around as well as providing some wonderful information on local wildlife. The stay itself was so peaceful, totally private area with a beautiful pond and row boat. We will be back!

We had the loveliest 2 nights in the treehouse. Andy was incredibly helpful and kind at check-in. The treehouse had everything we needed and the lake-house is where we spent most of our days! Beautiful surroundings and complete peace - we could actually switch off for a few days! Would love to come back.

The tree house was absolutely perfect, absolute bliss surrounded by nature, and ever so peaceful. All you can hear is bird and nature sounds, you’re literally tucked away in the wilderness amongst the trees. There’s a stove to keep you warm, the wood is provided by the host at a small cost, making the cabin ever so romantic. The lake across the treehouse harboured a couple of geese at the time we went, they’re quite friendly and add a little bit of company. Andy was super friendly and helped us through the check in and access procedure. You can tell her and his partner absolutely love the place and are committed to sharing this with couples in need of peace and wishing to reconnect with nature. It was also refreshing to experience something less formal and down to earth, from the hosts to the actual tree house. We’d love to be back !!

The host is very friendly showed us around the place, offered us use of a 4 x 4 truck but used our own still but it was still a lovely gesture and a great accommodation to have available to us.

I absolutely loved going out on the row boat on the lake. The geese were so cute and I loved having a bit of a back story on them.

The woods are beautiful and I enjoyed finding rope swings and chairs near the river which was a cute touch. The whole place is just beautiful.

We will definitely be back for a longer stay!

Andy was a great host, showing us around and lending us a 4x4 to get down to the place. We really enjoyed rowing around the man-made lake in the row boat provided.

Richard met us and drove us down the track to the tree house, the path is bumpy but he let us use his car to get down there. The area is all conpletely private it is STUNNING, you have access to the boat but it is as your own risk. There is a little summer house and plenty of places to sit and appreciate the surrouendings. He provides logs and fire starters for 5 pounds cash. There is no electricity so bring a power bank with you. Looking up at the stars at night by the lake is a wonderful experience. Thanks so much for a lovely weekend!

Very remote and off grid with complete privacy. Our host was ready to meet us with clear instructions on how to get to the property. We had a 4x4 so went down the track ourselves but he was prepared to let us use his. Very simple inside which is in keeping with the treehouse. Will be definitely coming back.

Cannot thank Andy enough, he was so friendly, helpful & a wonderful host so much so we stayed an extra night! Spending time together surrounded by nature was just perfect. By far our favourite trip we’ve had! We will definitely be back!

It was incredibly peaceful and quiet, which is just what we wanted. Andy, was very friendly and helpful. He showed us around, told us all about property. The treehouse was clean and tidy. It was incredibly cosy with the wood fire and the balcony was stunning. We had a fantastic time and would definitely stay again.

If you want a relaxing night away in complete nature, no signal or Internet. This is the perfect stay for you. The log burner kept everything toasty even till the next morning - long after we let it go out. Waking up with the view from bed was awesome.

It was raining most of the time but it just made it even more cosy. We loved exploring the woods and being at one with nature. The host was very welcoming and kind just as we remembered from last year. The tree house is so special to us and we will certainly be visiting annually. Being completely cut off from the rest of the world is just the best therapy and in the most perfect setting. We can’t recommend this enough to anybody who is looking for that peaceful escape and to be at one with nature. Thank you ever so much for having us back, and we’ll certainly be seeing you next year. I can’t recommend it enough. Embracing the off-grid life was the perfect tonic to a hectic day-to-day life. I was gutted when holiday came to an end. Will definitely be coming back. There’s a Lidl in Okehampton that’s great for stocking up bits prior to arrival. We’d recommend meal planning and using tinned goods, as once you’re in, you’re in. Also for Ladies whose time of the month strikes during the trip. The toilet is very clean and well maintained. Take biodegradable/flushable wipes and sandwiches bags so things can be wrapped up and disposed in the main bin. Such a wonderful spot, book it, you won’t regret it!

Pictures don’t do the treehouse justice, we are already planning our second trip there. Being in the woods was the perfect location for our little cocker spaniel to mooch around in, she was living the dream. The drive to the treehouse was through beautiful countryside but the tranquillity of the forest and the nature once you are there is unbeatable. Andy, our host, was personable and friendly. Clearly very passionate about the land and the treehouse. Thanks again Andy!

The most beautiful tree house in a location that you just don't come by any more. It was so remote and peaceful, the only noise was from local wildlife, we saw ducks, deer, squirrels and rabbits! Fusbal table was a great touch in the summer house and the lake was just gorgeous, loved sitting on the balcony watching the sun set and sun rise !

The perfect place to reconnect with nature! The host was super friendly and helpful and the accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The location is just 10/10! Take a book and snacks as you won't want to leave when you arrive. Ideal place to ground yourself and take a break from the world.

We saw pen hen and two baby’s, parrots woodpeckers and so many dragon flys that were so beautiful and squirrels The dogs just roamed the whole place and had a smashing time Would return in an instant Thank you for believing in the dream of your father it was perfect xxx

The treehouse was amazing, so peaceful! Totally off-grid, which was what we needed. Beautiful lake to walk around. Will definitely be coming back in nicer weather!

It was so peaceful, exactly what we were after. Both nights we stayed were really clear nights so we were able to do some stargazing . The toilet isn’t an issue, only a few seconds walk from the treehouse. No shower wasn’t really an issue, we took some ‘body wash wet wipes’ which was fine. Walked to the Clovelly inn for lunch , nice walk (even when it poured it down) and a very friendly pub. Andy was a very friendly, kind host and introduced us to the treehouse and the land very well, with lots of information. Made us feel very welcome and at home. We loved our stay, and hope to come back soon!! Thank you Andy!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Treehouse. The treehouse itself is very well built and was clean, with everything you needed for the stay. We bought logs for the fire from the host but could’ve done with a few more to warm the cabin in the morning as it was cold and frosty. The Treehouse so peaceful and in a beautiful location and well and truly off grid. Only small downside for us was that we hadn’t anticipated the time it would take to check-in, as we had to drive slowly down the track in the host’s 4x4 a few times so the sun had set by the time we could finally relax and enjoy our surroundings! Communication with hosts was really good and I would definitely recommend!

Great host, perfect setting, beautiful surroundings, no one else to spoil our peace and quiet, nothing but the sounds of nature to sooth our souls and calm our minds. We have already booked our next stay at this wonderful location!

Really really enjoyed our weekend here, it was the perfect relaxing break in a very secluded and private plot of land. We went mid January, so we was a little worried about the cold, however the fire keeps the place lovely and toasty so just make sure you have lots of wood and you will be lovely and warm! We let the fire go out around 8pm and it kept it warm enough all through the night :) The lake and setting is beautiful, and the views while lay in bed are stunning! We didn’t try the local pub as we were quite cosy by the fire, but clovelly inn was 3 miles away and seemed great value for money based on the menu in the draw! Thanks for your help Andy!

Amazing stay location and stay! Completely remote and beautiful. Perfect for getting back to nature. Hosts super friendly and accommodating. The boat was out of action which was a bit of a shame for us but still had a fantastic night in the tree!

The owners were absolutely lovely, very welcoming and very informative. Explained everything we would need to know for our stay and then left us to it. the treehouse was very clean and tidy and is just an absolutely beautiful place overall. We had a couple of recommendations from the owners about local pubs etc and we explored these and it was fantastic. We enjoyed it so much that we will 100% book and stay here again.

This place was breathtaking. the landscape was beautiful. Grande, wide open private land with lots of wooded spaces to explore and appreciate with rope swings and tyre swings dotted around, lots of wildlife, and so peaceful I can not fault it. Cosy and charming treehouse, beautiful view from the balcony and a wood fire which not only warmed the place up very effectively, but was relaxing for the ambience. the hosts were very friendly. highly recommend

We had the most lovely weekend at the Treehouse. The rowing boat was the most perfect touch and the alligators in the water were so friendly. The compost toilet was absolutely fine, would be nice to have a eco shower provided also! The treehouse was beautiful, lots of things provided like tea, coffee and milk powder. The log burner was absolutely baking! We ended up sleeping with the sliding door to the balcony open because we were so warm! It would be nice if the wood was supplied free of charge as this is the one source of heating. Comfy bed with soft sheets. The hosts were so friendly and made us feel very welcome, good recommendations for nearby things to do and places to eat. Lovely sentiment behind the making of the treehouse too and the summer house was a nice touch with the football table, we had great fun! It was lovely to be away from everything, no electricity,no signal and no people!! Thank you for such a lovely stay!

What an amazing place and experience. Totally secluded and private, and completely off grid. Absolutely perfect for a night away. Waking up with the view of the trees and lake was fantastic. Andy was an amazing host showing us to the treehouse and giving us all the information we needed. As the track to the treehouse is very 'off road' we even had use of one of his vehicles to get there and back which added to the experience. We went to the local pub (Clovelly Inn, about 3 miles away) for dinner and that's highly recommended as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting something a little bit different.

What an amazing place to stay and reconnect with nature. It’s so incredibly peaceful and totally private. We’ll be back again at some point for sure!

Looking to go off grid? This is the place. Fantastic and magical treehouse overlooking your own private mini lake. You access the tree house using a 4x4 jeep, which is provided for your exclusive use during the stay. It's a one bed cabin in the trees, with kitchenette and terrace. It is shabby rustic, rather than shabby chic, so be prepared for a bit of Bear Grylls (outside compost toilet, no shower, no electricity and no phone signal). A log burner is the only heat provider, so if you go in the colder season bring layers (had to pay for logs, which was a bit disappointing as there was no other heating. Really should be included in the price for the winter months). Ideally situated for walking on Dartmoor. You will find some nice pubs near by.

It was the most special birthday ever, thank you so much Finest Retreats and our host Andy. I highly recommend the treehouse to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

A purpose built treehouse nestled in stunning woodland, overlooking a peaceful man-made lake makes reconnecting with nature a breeze. Fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the river and wake up to nothing but the bird song which will be sure to restore your soul. A must visit for anyone who needs to unwind and de-stress. Absolutely perfect.

Great place , would recommend! It’s something different . Very relaxing a real magical spot absolutely away from everything. Even the compost toilet was actually fine , certainly a loo with a view !!

I had this getaway as a gift for my birthday. Wow!!!! We loved every second and my little dog loved it too. So peaceful and the view from the balcony is just fantastic! We will be definitely staying again.

Beautiful, unique treehouse. Perfect for a peaceful break. The boat was lovely and the balcony perfect for relaxing with a book and eating breakfast! The fire kept us nice and warm even in December. Would love to stay in the treehouse in the summer and would definitely book again.

We had the most wonderful stay at the treehouse. The treehouse itself was perfect, so cosy and the wood burner worked a treat at keeping us toasty. The surroundings were just beautiful and so nice to be so remote and switch off from the world. We stayed in autumn but would love to come back in every season! Thank you.

So firstly, the location, wow. What a beautiful and idyllic location set right out in the middle of nowhere, honestly the pictures just do not do it justice. Incredibly peaceful setting, with only the local wildlife to disturb you from a relaxing stay. Sitting on the balcony you can hear the nearby stream gurgling away over the back, Acorns dropping from the trees and some kind of demonic cow a few fields over making a real interesting sound! We were welcomed by one of the owners on arrival (eventually, see below) and taken down towards the treehouse itself. You can either go with them in their pickup,if your feeling adventurous, and your car will handle it, drive down yourself - which is what we did, and it was great fun. Then your given a tour of the grounds, shown everything you need, the paths around the lake, the boat, the toilets etc etc and then left to your own devices for the duration of your stay. There is currently wood available for the log fire but I was informed that once its gone, its gone - so I recommend future guests to make sure you bring plenty of your own wood. Also be prepared for EVERYTHING you own to stink of smoke when you leave. Its just part of the experience but the wood burner in the room does get a little smoky from time to time, so don't turn up in your best designer gear! Also something you might not expect, there are LED lights in the treehouse, powered by solar chargers, so you won't be stuck in darkness all night - we packed a tonne of torches and didn't actually need them in the end! Except for when we went wandering,to the toilet in the dark!

The treehouse was amazing! The floor to ceiling windows had great views out through the treetops and over the lake. We loved sitting in the evening sunshine by the summerhouse after a row on the lake. With so many different facilities and nature to ourselves and thoughtful, helpful hosts we had a great time!

A great break to switch off from tech. Rowing on the lake and trying to get the fire started whiled away our time, and of course lots of reading. It was so great that we could borrow the 4-wheel drive to get down to the treehouse as it was needed in the wet weather. Bring food and anything to drink with you. Andy showed us around and was a nice and friendly host.

If you love a view in the morning then book here! Okay so you don't have running waterWiFi but you don't need that when you have an amazing experience and views! You are the only people around for a least a mile and the compost toilet is a tick off the bucket list! The host was amazing and I can't wait to book again next year!

I absolutely loved the treehouse! Its remote, cosy, peaceful and fun! I loved laying in bed and looking at squirrels in the trees ( and running across the roof!) i loved the stillness and tranquillity of it all, i loved the wildlife, the clear skies at night (no light pollution) it really was absolutely perfect. I imagine that it doesnt matter in the slightest what the weather is doing, the surroundings would still be as fascinating and gorgeous.

The treehouse itself is cute and cosy! The fire really heats up the space and seems to hold the heat well. Double ring camping stove meant we could cook pretty much anything, and we did! We will definitely go back again.

I honestly can not recommend this place enough, it is absolutely incredible. The treehouse really is in the middle of nowhere and is the perfect place to relax. We really enjoyed walking our dog around the grounds and then sitting for a glass of wine in front of the summer house watching the dragonflies chasing one another. The hosts were more than helpful and provided us with all of the local knowledge we needed including pub recommendations and where to go for the nearest shop. We will absolutely be back to visit in the future as there is just no where else like it.

Highly recommend this location, the story to the hospitality is perfect and the holiday was magical. Saw some deer and had the chance to row in the lake!

This is a special place to go and unwind and feel separated from day to day life and stress. You really do have a huge and beautiful space all to yourself. We ended up going nowhere so worth bringing enough food in case you end up feeling the same.

Superb tranquil setting with total peace & privacy guaranteed. Wonderful wildlife & a chance to totally unwind as long as your happy without electricityrunning water & an eco friendly compost toilet. It is back to nature after all.

We had a great stay at the treehouse! The location, set off the beaten track in 15 acres of private woodland is special. Incredibly cosy and peaceful no matter the weather.

The nicest place we’ve stayed in a while! Amazing for people that like to adventure, dartmoor national park is only 30 minutes drive! We brought our dog and he loved jumping into the pond and exploring. Such a beautiful and relaxing place despite the rainy weather! Would definitely come back again!

Our stay at the treehouse was amazing. The location is beautiful, secluded and peaceful, and we loved having the private pond and row boat to go around in. There are lots of extra touches that really added to our stay as well, such as binoculars to spot wildlife, tyre swings, lighting all around the pond for nighttime, and the little summer house for sitting in. The treehouse itself has been done very well and looks stunning. John checked us in and was extremely helpful in making sure we had all the information and everything we need. We were really blown away by our stay here and will certainly be back.

My wife and I stayed here for one night with our dog. Very peaceful and isolated. Exactly what we were after. We drank wine and ate cheese on the tree house balcony and in the morning had our breakfast in the summer house overlooking the pond. Some cute little tyre swings around the place, but our favourite part of the stay was going out onto the little jetty after dusk and letting the bats fly around our heads and watching them skim the top of the pond. One of our favorite isolated stays.

Such an amazing place to escape to. Had a huge space completely to ourselves in the woods with lots around to explore. The treehouse was well finished with a lush view over the pond, which was great fun with the boat. We enjoyed the wildlife, hosts were lovely & welcoming but gave us plenty of privacy. Was a bonus that the build looked after the environment too. Would recommend to anyone that needs a reset secluded in nature. We spent an evening around the pond, cooked dinner on the gas stove then woke up with the sun coming through the trees. Loved every minute!

We slept well in the lovely soft bedding with the log burner flickering away. And to top it all off, use of your very own boat, lake and summerhouse! We just got back from the most wonderful stay at this treehouse. It’s just beautiful and completely in the middle of nowhere - no sounds but the birds and the sheep. We went for many rows on the boat and many walks around the land, before cuddling up next to the logfireoutside the summer house. Honestly loved every second of it. We’ll be back!

This treehouse is absolutely stunning and the setting is beautiful! We loved our stay and plan to visit again in the future. You don’t even need the sunshine it was lovely whatever the weather, we had a nice picnic by the large pond and got in the boat a little too! (Definitely worth it) The treehouse was cosy and homely with the log burner and the balcony was incredible,overlooking the woods and lake. Such wonderful hosts too and a lovely backstory behind the treehouse. Can’t recommend enough

Wow- this place is amazing! Completely exceeded our expectations. Caroline and Andy are so nice, met us on arrival and took us down to the treehouse to make sure we got down the track okay. The treehouse is situated in the most stunning location - totally secluded amongst the trees and next to a pond to look out on over the balcony. Everything was very clean and the little touches like cereals,tea and coffee were very appreciated. The treehouse has a log burner inside but we didn’t need to use it as it stayed lovely and warm even though it was a little chilly outside. The summerhouse is great to sit at and enjoy a drink whilst looking out on the pond. We took the boat out for a paddle which was so fun! Can’t recommend this place enough, we would love to stay again! Thank you :)
