This was our second time at The Duck House and we’ll definitely be back. It’s idyllic to have breakfast at the dining table and watch that garden birds outsidesit in the sunroom and listen to the pheasant calling outside.

The village is lovely and it’s so easy to pop out to the shop, for a walkto one of the nearby restaurants. All three of us love coming here. It feels so homely. It’s exceptionally clean, yet cosy. It is well set up for families and Mary goes above and beyond to ensure guests are well catered for. I also appreciate the detailed instructions left around the house which take away any uncertainty. A boring point, but I was thrilled how quiet the washing machine was in its cupboard. We could use it overnight with no disturbance! |

I was delighted by the location at the edge of the village. Braithwaite is a beautiful place to be based with access to many different places. The quiet darkness provides ideal sleeping, especially after walking in the fells.

We got in some great walks directly from the house ,easily got into Keswick for groceries,had some great meals in the local pubs,had great weather and enjoyed the bird song/peace. Will be back !!

Lots of space for an adult family. Great facilities. Awsome location (2 minute walk to pub, village shop and 7 minute drive to Keswick). Wouldn’t mind moving in permanently. Oh and beautiful Christmas tree.

She came around and introduced herself soon after we checked into the house and told us where & how to find her if we ever needed anything. We stayed for a week and definitely hope to visit again.

Second visit to the Duck House. It is a large, bright bungalow with a conservatory and parking, situated in a lovely spot in Braithwaite. Everything you could want has been catered for to start your holiday. Braithwaite is a lovely village with a small shop and 2 coffee shops (and pub) you can be in relative peace and quiet, but close enough to Keswick to walk in to all that it has to offer. At certain times, Braithwaite is busy with cars going through and lots of walkers. Lovely to have wonderful walks from your doorstep. Mary, the owner, is very friendly and lives nearby. She comes and fills up the bird feeders regularly. A lovely array of birds come to feed, including 2 ducks!

We would suggest taking a cable to connect your laptop to the TV, so that you can watch netflix, bbciplayer etc, as the TV is not the most modern in terms of channels. Other than that, no improvements required.

The access to the driveway is challenging, particularly with a larger vehicle. You certainly need your wits about you! The location pin provided by the host was not accurate but the written directions were. You are asked to strip the beds and do somebekijk meer

Buses run through the village into Keswickit’s a nice walk. Hosts were helpful and friendly. We appreciated their efforts to recycle, reduce single use plastic and to use non-polluting cleaning products. We would definitely consider staying again.

The Duck House is surrounded by mountains... with great walks from the door. Private parking, and a short walk to the village store, The Royal Oak and Jasper's coffee shop. We loved our stay and recommend it highly.

It was our first visit to the Lake District and we absolutely loved it! The Duck house’ location was perfect and enabled us to explore lots of beautiful scenic places nearby without having to drive too far. The stream next to the house was magical, and so were all the different birds that were in the garden. We loved looking at the sheep on the hill in front of the house. The hosts were accommodating and left us some essentials that were really appreciated after our long drive from London. We would definitely go back again!

A perfect place to stay in the lakes. Beautiful location, walks on your doorstep as well as great pub and restaurant. The house was so clean and a lovely tranquil spot with a stream running along the house. Only one slight downside for us, there was no blackout blind in the main bedroom and it has a skylight so it’s light from when the sun is up. We would stay again as we throughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you

A great house in a great location. We had a wonderful week exploring Keswick and The Lakes, with some great walking and cycling directly from the house.
