Shaky's Penthouse is a beautifully renovated and furnished top floor apartment right in the heart of the popular Peak District town of Matlock, sleeping up to four people in two bedrooms. Once famed for its hydro and spa treatments, Matlock's central location, scenic surroundings and public transport links make it a popular base for exploring the best of the Peak District and Derbyshire. Shaky's Penthouse is therefore the perfect base for walkers with many circular walks starting and ending in the town.
Crown Square and the river Derwent lie at the heart of Matlock, and the gateway to award-winning Hall Leys Park with its boating lake, riverside walks, tennis courts and skateboard park. For a trip back in time, hop on a steam or diesel train operated by Peak Rail from Matlock to Rowsley, or head for nearby Crich Tramway Village and pay an old penny to ride on a vintage tram. We love the complementary items specially the tarts and snacks. The place is well equipped in terms of appliances except laundry. I would like to appraise the support staff for being responsive all the time at one point that there was an issue about the water not heating enough but it was resolved right away.

Travelling by train to Matlock, it was a pleasant surprise to find the accomodation was only about 7 minutes walk from the station. Buses stop outside and across the road to various places of interest. The penthouse was cosy, well equiped and clean see more

We (two persons) liked the second bedroom to store our clothes and cases which gave us more living space. Arriving in October the town was quieter. Lots of restaurants around and a nice M & S foods a short walk away. We did have a problem with the shower but a phone call to the agents (Finest Retreats) speedily rectified the problem. All in all a great holiday and if I returned to that area I would have no hesitation in booking this accomodation again. |

Clean modern second floor apartment, great location for restaurants, takeaways, shops and access to the Peak District. Car park right behind appartment and train station 5 mins walk. Host (Agency) responsive when we needed to contact them, including out of hours. Child friendly recreation park behind apartment. Everything very convenient.

Very great apartment, pleasantly warm, very neat and right at the heart of Matlock, everything accessible. There is a beautiful park right beside the street, great for children as well. I’ll visit again .
