Description
Step into the charm of Cawsand, a picturesque historic fishing village nestled on Cornwall’s beautiful Rame Peninsula. Old Cellars is a characterful Georgian cottage, full of traditional features and old-world charm. Situated just a short stroll from Cawsand Beach, the village pub and local shop, this welcoming cottage is the perfect base for discovering Cornwall’s stunning coastline and enjoying a relaxing seaside escape.
Inside, Old Cellars retains plenty of its original character, with ancient doors, low lintels, quirky walls and traditional flagstone floors. The spacious living room offers the perfect place to unwind, while the well-equipped cottage-style kitchen provides everything you need for a comfortable self-catering stay, including a dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer. A dining area, separate shower room and useful utility space with a washing machine and tumble dryer add to the cottage’s homely appeal.
Upstairs, you’ll find three inviting bedrooms, offering flexible accommodation for families and friends. The double bedroom features a comfortable 5ft bed, while the twin bedroom is ideal for additional guests. A single bedroom with a handy pull-out truckle bed provides extra sleeping space, making it particularly suited to children. A family bathroom, complete with a bath and shower over, finishes off the upstairs accommodation. Please note that the cottage’s traditional character includes some low doorways and a steeper staircase.
At the rear, a charming terraced garden unfolds over several levels, providing a peaceful spot to enjoy a morning coffee, dine outdoors or relax after a day by the sea. With garden furniture and a little hidden lane at the top, it adds to the cottage’s tucked-away appeal. The garden is reached via approximately 17 steps, adding a touch of adventure to this traditional Cornish hideaway. Dogs are welcome, so your four-legged companions can join you on your coastal getaway. A public car park is conveniently located just 50 yards away.
Just a few minutes’ walk from Old Cellars, Cawsand and its neighbouring village, Kingsand, offer a delightful blend of seaside charm, history and local character. Wander through narrow winding streets lined with colourful cottages, discover welcoming traditional pubs and cafés, browse independent shops or spend a leisurely afternoon on the sheltered beaches. The surrounding Rame Peninsula is a haven for walkers, with beautiful coastal paths, hidden coves and sweeping views across Plymouth Sound. Nearby Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is perfect for exploring woodland trails, landscaped gardens and peaceful countryside, while the passenger foot ferry from Cawsand offers a scenic trip across the water to Plymouth, with its historic waterfront, shops and attractions.
