Tucked away in a quiet valley on the North Cornwall coast, Millook Water is the kind of place you come to properly switch off. Set in an enclosed private garden with a stream running through it, ancient woodland beyond the gate, and the sea only a short stroll away, it’s peaceful, simple, and wonderfully unspoilt - perfect for fresh air, salt spray and a slower pace of life.
Guests have been falling in love with Millook Water for generations. One guest wrote in the cottage guestbook back in August 1957: “A really delightful holiday! We all enjoyed it very much. We hope we may have the chance to return another year. There is one thing we don’t like – having to go home”. This traditional family cottage has been owned by the same family for over 60 years. It’s not glossy or high-spec, but it’s full of character and history. Inside, you’ll find a warm, classic feel with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a woodburner for cosy evenings in. The cottage also has a record player and a wonderfully varied vinyl collection.
Sleeping five guests across three bedrooms (one king, one twin and one single), it’s a great base for a small family or a quiet coastal escape. There’s a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, plus a practical kitchen for easy holiday meals after beach days or winter walks.
Step outside and you’re into the real magic of Millook: a hidden stretch of coastline where you can wander down to the beach, explore rockpools, or simply sit in the garden and listen to the stream and the sea. No traffic, no crowds - just countryside, coast and calm.
The stream at the bottom of the garden is perfect for paddling in wellies, and for safety it’s securely fenced off from the main lawn. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but no other animals can be accepted.
Please note the valley is reached via a steep 30% incline with a tight hairpin bend on either approach. Caravans won’t be able to access the property, and long wheelbase vehicles may struggle. The cottage is also around 100 metres along a bumpy track, so low-slung cars are best avoided.

A lovely week spent at Millook. We started with a couple of damp days, but the weather improved as the week went on. We spent most of our time down on the beach and marvelling at the cliffs. We saw a lobster and a few crabs.
