Description
Chestnut Cottage is a beautifully converted barn situated on a smallholding in Tealby and two miles from the town of Market Rasen. The cottage is in a peaceful location, on the edge of the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds making it a perfect spot for walkers, cyclists and wildlife lovers with wonderful woodland and amenities on the doorstep. The hot tub with views over the fields is very popular with guests and make Chestnut Cottage a great place to stay at any time of the year.
The cottage mixes a character feel with contemporary fittings and furnishings with a spacious open plan living area and two sets of French doors opening onto an enclosed patio with the private hot tub. Guests can also enjoy the use of a BBQ and fire-pit for the summer evenings. Inside, there is underfloor eco heating, oak flooring and a cosy woodburner to keep warm in front of in the cooler Autumn and Winter evenings.
On the ground floor is a super-king bedroom (can be 2x singles on request) as well as the family shower room which makes Chestnut Cottage a good choice for those with limited mobility. The second bedroom is a king-sized double bed and can be found on the first floor with its own private en-suite shower room.
The characterful living/dining area comes with a Smart TV and DVD player and a selection of games and books means that the whole group can enjoy plenty of entertainment during the evenings. For those with younger families, a travel cot and highchair can be provided.
Chestnut Cottage is only a short distance from Market Rasen which is a bustling market town standing on the western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The town is popular with walkers and cyclists and there are great routes and trails criss-crossing the surrounding area. Guests can start their walks from the door of the cottage through the woodland and across the road is a popular walk to Tealby and Walesby village along the ridge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. A mountain biking track is half a mile away from the cottage via an off road track.
Market Rasen High Street is home to over fifty independent shops and businesses. You will find traditional and long-standing family run shops including ironmongers, butchers, menswear confectionery, haberdashery and gift shops. The town boasts plenty of high-quality and award winning places to eat.
Nearby the villages of Tealby has the Kings Head pub (only 8 minutes walk away from Chestnut Cottage), the oldest thatched pub in Lincolnshire; and Walesby, home of All Saints 'Ramblers' Church. This iconic medieval church overlooks the village on the Viking Way. The view from the church is quite spectacular and inside is a beautiful stained glass window, depicting walkers and cyclists.
Please note towels are not provided and guests should bring their own.

We enjoyed being in the woods with plenty of walking and bike rides to explore. We were also close enough to cities and town to explore. Loved going to Lincoln and visiting the cathedral on the hill, although be warned the hill to the top is steep. We also visited the Humber Bridge and walked around the local area including a walk across the bridge itself which was great. But it was always nice to return to the cottage and have a soak in the hot tub, very relaxing. |

Most things were there to help you have a great stay, so it's very difficult to say how it can be improved.
Keep up the good work.

This was a lovely space with a enclosed garden great for the dog and good walks in the surrounding woods. The hot tub was great to relax in and has better screening than the photo suggests which made it seem more private. The two bedrooms both had ensuite facilities and had very comfortable firm beds. The bedrooms are on different floors giving greater independence at bedtime. The kitchenette is well equipped with all we needed for our short and lovely stay.

This is a beautiful property in a beautiful location. We cannot recommend Chestnut Cottage enough. The gift basket upon arrival was a lovely touch. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay a wonderful experience. There are some beautiful walks in the area and area's to drive out to. The beaches at Chapel Point, I would highly recommend, just 50 minutes away. This is such a peaceful and tranquil place to stay.
