Accommodation
Description
Wobbly Cod is a spacious holiday home in the heart of Charlestown, Cornwall, sleeping up to 14 guests across the main house and a separate self-contained annexe. It's well suited to multi-generational families, groups of friends or two families holidaying together, offering generous shared spaces alongside the flexibility of independent accommodation.
The main house has four bedrooms, including an emperor-size four-poster master suite with ensuite bathroom and walk-in dressing room, a super-king zip-and-link room that can be configured as a twin, a king-size bedroom and a children's cabin bunk room with a double bed below and single bunk above. The ground floor of the main house includes a large sitting room with a wood-burning stove, conservatory, snug, dining room, fully equipped kitchen with garden access, entrance hall and a separate games room with pool, table tennis and table football.
The first-floor annexe, known as Codswallop, has its own private entrance and includes two further bedrooms (a super-king zip-and-link and a king-size room), a shower room and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Having two fully equipped kitchens allows different generations or families to cook and dine independently if they choose.
Outside, the landscaped garden has an outdoor dining table seating up to 14 guests, a charcoal barbecue, hanging egg chair, outdoor shower and wetsuit hooks. Private parking is available for four cars.
Wobbly Cod is just a five-minute walk from Charlestown's historic Georgian harbour, famous for its tall ships, featured in Poldark, and part of Cornwall's UNESCO World Heritage mining landscape. The harbour is home to independent cafés, galleries and restaurants, while Charlestown Beach is ideal for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and rock pooling. The South West Coast Path passes through the village, offering coastal walks in both directions. The village has long attracted filmmakers and visitors from around the world, featuring in productions such as Poldark and serving as part of the wider Cornish backdrop used in television adaptations of Rosamunde Pilcher's beloved novels. For many international visitors—particularly from Germany—Pilcher's stories have become synonymous with Cornwall's romantic landscapes, making a stay in Charlestown a wonderful opportunity to experience the county's enduring charm firsthand.
Many of Cornwall's best-known attractions are within easy reach, including the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissey and Fowey. The Roseland Peninsula, St Ives and the Minack Theatre all make excellent day trips, with countless beaches, gardens, coastal villages and walking routes to explore along the way.
