Description
Escape to a peaceful riverside retreat at beautiful Islip Mill House - a Grade II listed former mill set beside the River Nene, surrounded by over an acre of private gardens and abundant wildlife.
Perfect for family gatherings, countryside escapes and dog-friendly stays, this unique home sleeps up to 8 guests across four king-size bedrooms, with spacious living areas designed for relaxing together.

Inside, the house blends historic character with cosy comfort. The farmhouse kitchen features a traditional Aga for winter evenings, while the drawing room opens onto a riverside terrace perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks by the water. I arranged the weekend for my mother’s 85th birthday celebrations. She has not been well lately and we wanted somewhere nice and comfortable for her and for all of us to enjoy. My brother and his wife joined us so together with my husband and our two teenage children. Islip mill house the perfect place . The house and gardens and all the surroundings were absolutely beautiful. We found the house so welcoming. Every effort had been made to make us feel at home and we certainly appreciated the amazing goodies left for us to enjoy. We all loved the house and the many interesting and quirky items arranged throughout the house.Everyone would find their favourite such as the mechanical toys in the cupboard. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable . All the amenities were in first class condition . All the family agreed that the accommodation was perfect and we all would like to thank the owners for making the stay just as perfect.

It was ideal for this, great, peaceful location with an easy walk into the nearby town to get our Christmas provisions. The kitchen was equipped well enough to produce a great Christmas dinner. Julian was a great host who couldn’t do enough for us, which included putting up a Christmas tree for us. With the extra highlight of us spotting a kingfisher on the other side of the river we really enjoyed our Christmas in the UK!

An absolutely fantastic location and a really historical property. Lots of creaky and wonky floorboards! Lovely furniture throughout. I would not class the beds as large king size, one was but the other three were doubles! Could have done with the hairs being removed from plug holes upstairs. Well equipped kitchen, two living rooms, two dining areas. Stock in the kitchen so able to wash up, used the dishwasher which was helpful. Hoovered through when leaving as lots of leaves everywhere, also was scared of extra charge :-( Really lovely property, would recommend. Don't look for spiders! Plenty of parking for numerous cars.

It's a beautiful house set in wonderful grounds, and there was lots to entertain the children with the swans on the river outside and all the stuffed animals inside! The bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfortable (with great beds!) and the walk-in shower of the bathroom was a real pleasure to use. We arrived late on Friday eve, and were incredibly touched and grateful to find bread, milk, bacon and sausages already in the fridge when we woke up the next morning. One of our best ever finds on Airbnb - we're already wondering when we can return!!

A small sign indicating that the door next to the keybox is NOT the front door would be useful, or maybe a note asking people to go round the back.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay! Julian was very friendly, hospitable and welcoming and the house is stunning with an amazing garden which was enclosed, so perfect for my dog to roam around safely. A peaceful getaway with gorgeous walks along Nene Way right on the doorstep. I’d definitely return and I’d recommend it to everyone!

We had a wonderful family holiday. We really loved the house - it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and mum even found some cheese sauce sachets stocked in the cupboards which she needed for cooking. We went on nice walks and my niece loved looking at the fish in the pond. Truly lovely house.
