Description
Thornleigh Retreat is a beautiful luxury holiday home with chic décor and a boutique feel. Ideally located just a few minutes drive from the stunning Praa Sands, and within easy reach of both The Lizard Peninsula and Marazion, guests will have some of Cornwall’s most picturesque scenery close at hand.
Set independently within the owner’s property, Thornleigh Retreat offers spacious open plan accommodation, with high ceilings and a bright airy feel, owing to the double patio doors off the main living area.
The kitchen is well equipped with all the amenities you will need, including fridge freezer, toaster, microwave and kettle. There is a generously sized breakfast bar for dining, which also makes for a lovely social space when cooking.
The living room has a plush three seater sofa, with additional 'loveseat' armchair, so plenty of space for relaxing in-front of the television after a long day of exploring!
The bedroom is very luxuriously dressed, with a king sized bed which can also be configured as two singles, if a twin room is required. This too is very generously sized and offers plenty of storage for two adults. The high end finish continues in the bathroom, which is modern and tiled, comprising a large walk-in shower enclosure with electric power shower, basin and WC.
Guests have access to a small patio area off the living room, with bistro table and chairs, great for sitting out with a drink in the evening. There is private off road parking at the rear of the owner's drive for one car.
Locally the village of Rosudgeon is less than half a mile away, meaning that the convenience store and two very good pubs - The Packet Inn and The Coach and Horses are all within walking distance of the house. Also only a 10-15 minute walk away is Kenneggy Cove, a wonderful hidden gem of a beach off the beaten track. This makes for a lovely countryside walk as it can be reached by footpaths from Thornleigh Retreat and also links up to the South West Coast Path. There are plenty of other beautiful beaches close by at Perranuthnoe, Prussia Cove and Praa Sands, all within a 10 minute drive.
In the surrounding area there are plenty of beautiful places to explore within easy reach by car. The coastal town of Marazion has a lovely waterfront with beaches either side and a good selection of shops, pubs and cafe's. St Michael's Mount, sitting proudly out in Mounts Bay is not to be missed, now looked after by National Trust and accessible by foot at low tide, with a passenger ferry service once the causeway is underwater.
Going west along the coast you will find the historic town of Penzance, which amongst its quaint streets and unchanged buildings has the carefully restored Jubilee Pool, an outdoor geo-thermal pool offering a unique swimming experience. In the town of Newlyn, Cornwall's largest remaining working fishing port, there is the Newlyn Fish Market, an excellent opportunity to pick up some truly fresh Cornish fish and cook up a treat!
There is also the quaint village of Mousehole with it's sheltered harbour, and the world famous Minack Theatre, a unique open-air theatre built into the cliff edge in the early 20th Century.
Going east along the coast, the harbour town of Porthleven is well worth a visit, with plenty to see and do, and a wide variety of places to eat, it is fast becoming one of Cornwall's top 'foodie' destinations. The Lizard Peninsula lies south of Porthleven, with some of Cornwalls finest scenery, and rare geology which creates a haven for exceptional plants and flowers.
The north coast is also easily accessible, with the picturesque town of St Ives being only 10 miles distant. With a stunning harbour framed by golden beaches, you will find restaurants, pubs and cafe's galore, and plenty of independent shops to discover.
