Description
Ivy House is a lovingly restored character cottage in a village location just outside Matlock Bath. With plenty of amenities in easy reach and the beautiful town of Matlock only a short drive away, guests are ideally located to enjoy this stunning and diverse part of Derbyshire.
Inside the cottage, there is a real sense of luxury throughout, with beautiful furniture and thoughtful touches at every turn so that guests can really relax and enjoy their time here.
The living room is fabulously welcoming with a refined style and log burning stove bringing the ultimate cosy feel for those evenings curled up on the sofa.
The country-style kitchen has everything you will need, with a large gas range cooker, kettle, fridge-freezer, microwave and coffee machine for that perfect start to the morning.
There is a separate space for dining, a beautiful light and airy garden room/conservatory, with period style glass windows all along one wall over looking the rear garden. This is a beautiful spot for breakfasts, evening meals, or just cherished family time, creating memories to remember.
Perhaps one of the best features of this special house is the cellar room, brilliantly converted into a bar and movie room. An amazing space with exposed curved brick ceiling, there is quirky décor, a real feel of escapism and fun to be had with a fully serviceable bar (bring your own drinks), and projector to hold screenings of your favourite films!
The three bedrooms are all are very well-dressed, spacious and have charming décor and ample storage.
One of the double bedrooms is on the ground floor level and has its own fireplace with wood-burning stove. The other double bedroom and twin room are upstairs on the first floor along with the bathroom, which has a shower enclosure, basin, and WC.
Outside, there is a delightful garden, largely lawned with patio areas and picnic-bench seating. There is an outdoor fireplace area at the end of the garden, and far-reaching views out across the open countryside beyond. This is an ideal space for al-fresco dining in the summer, and for enjoying the glow of the fire on cooler evenings.
There is free on-street parking available on a first come first served basis.
Locally, guests have the nearby village of Crich, which has a choice of great pubs and the Crich Tramway Village - a lovely heritage attraction to visit.
The Heights of Abraham, also just a short drive away, is a unique hilltop park reached by cable car, with cavern tours, walking trails, fossil exhibitions and café.
Definitely not to be missed is Chatsworth House, a lavish stately home with noted art collection, gardens and shop.
For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, why not venture into the Peak District National Park, with walking trails galore, cycle hire, stunning scenery and much more, it is a true jewel in the crown of the Great British countryside.
